Sisi in visit to Bahrain, KSA: Gulf security inseparable from Egypt’s

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi paid a brief fraternal visit on Saturday to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reaffirming Egypt’s unwavering solidarity with the brotherly states of the Gulf Co-operation Council amid ongoing regional developments.The visit highlighted Egypt’s commitment to supporting Gulf security and stability, alongside its firm rejection of attacks that threaten the sovereignty, safety, and well-being of Arab nations.

Iran fires missiles farther than ever

Britain condemned Iran for targeting a joint UK-US base in the Indian Ocean and Iran’s main nuclear enrichment site was struck again as the war in the Middle East entered its fourth week.Iran’s attack on the Diego Garcia air base — about 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometres) away — suggested Tehran has missiles that can go farther than it had previously acknowledged, or that it had used its space program for an improvised launch.

4 killed as Russia, Ukraine trade attacks

Russia and Ukraine traded attacks that killed at least four people Saturday, officials said, ahead of expected US-Ukraine talks on ways to end Russia’s invasion of its neighbour.

A man and a woman were killed and six people wounded, including two children, when a Russian drone hit a house in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, regional head Ivan Fedorov said.

Hawaii’s worst flooding in 20 years threatens dam

As Hawaii endures its worst flooding in more than 20 years, officials are urging people in hard-hit areas to “LEAVE NOW.” The warning early Saturday came after heavy rains fell on soil already saturated by downpours from a winter storm a week ago. Still more rain was expected during the weekend, officials said.

Czechs rally in country’s largest anti-government protest since 2019

Tens of thousands of Czechs rallied on Saturday in the country’s biggest anti-government demonstration since 2019, protesting against defence spending cuts under Prime Minister Andrej Babis and over fears ‌his administration will target public media.

Protesters started arriving hours before the rally began at Letna plain overlooking the historic center, where many waved Czech and European Union flags. Organisers estimated the turnout at around 250,000 people.

Extreme heat continues to strike Southwest US

Parts of California and Arizona were under extreme heat warnings again Saturday while sweltering summerlike weather even stretched as far north as Nebraska just a day into spring.Temperatures at or above 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.7 C) were forecast in the Southwest, closing a remarkable week of record-breaking heat. April, May and June are likely to be hotter than normal almost everywhere in the US.
