The Egyptian Hotels Association (EHA) has announced a multi-year partnership with two global leaders in hospitality education and training, Lobster Ink and Sommet Education, in an ambitious move aimed at achieving a renaissance in the sector.

The initiative, funded by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the EHA, seeks to provide digital training to 80,000 hospitality professionals across Egypt, particularly those working in three- and four-star hotels.

The EHA’s vision is to consolidate Egypt’s reputation as a world-class tourist destination and secure the sector’s long-term growth.

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy highlighted the national importance of professional development while outlining the government’s objectives for the project.

“This step represents our commitment to developing a comprehensive framework in hospitality, capable of overcoming challenges and supporting Egypt’s future,” he said.

“Investing in human capital is vital for the sector’s advancement, both economically and professionally.”

Notably, he added, Egypt has already seen a 22 per cent increase in tourist arrivals this June compared to last year, marking significant progress toward welcoming 30 million visitors by 2031.

The minister said that the centerpiece of this initiative is the launch of the Egyptian Tourism and Technologies Platform, EGTAP.com, which will go live within a week.

Through EGTAP, hotel employees will have access to a library of courses covering everything from guest relations and operations to management and sustainable practices. Each participant can earn a certificate for every completed course, bolstering both personal growth and technical proficiency.

The three-year programme will focus on supporting staff who may lack the resources of five-star establishments, Wael Aboelseoud, EHA Board Member, said. All courses will be available in Arabic or with Arabic translation, ensuring wide accessibility and impact.

Lobster Ink will offer online training modules to help onboard employees, increase revenue, and improve guest satisfaction in hospitality. Sommet Education will provide postgraduate and executive programs for EHA members, focusing on luxury and hospitality education.

Adrian Artimov, Chief Commercial Officer of Sommet Education, underscored the significance of this collaboration.

“Today is the beginning of a shared journey built on belief in the power of education, the potential of Egyptian talent, and the future of hospitality as a force for connection and change,” he said, revealing that the Sommet Foundation will also offer a full scholarship to one outstanding Egyptian hospitality professional.

MP Nora Ali, Head of the Tourism Committee at the House of Representatives, applauded the initiative as a turning point for the industry.

“The focus on sustained professional development is crucial, and this marks the first time the Association has engaged internationally at this level,” she told The Egyptian Gazette.

“I consider this a very positive development, particularly with Switzerland’s involvement, as it is well known for its excellence in training and hospitality standards.”
