The Embassy of Korean in Cairo celebrated International Women’s Day in the presence of Ambassador of Korean to Egypt Hong Jin-wook .
To celebrate International Women’s Day, the 8th of March, and Egyptian Women’s Day, the 16th of March, the Korean Embassy held a tea meeting for its female staff and invited Ms. Amal Metwaly as a special guest on the 8th of March. Ms. Amal is the oldest recipient of the Master’s degree in Egyptian history and gave courage to the Egyptian people by continuing her study regardless of age, health condition, and other difficulties. During the meeting, she said, “No life with despair and No despair with life ”
Ms. Amal’s passion for learning inspired the female staff of the embassy to pursue their career goal and happiness without giving up. Ambassador Hong Jin-wook expressed his gratitude toward Ms. Amal’s efforts and mentioned that women’s role in Egypt and everywhere else in the world is becoming significant. He noted Ms. Amal is an exemplary model not only to women but also to everyone.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea congratulates women for their day and would like to express its support for women’s active role in society. The Republic of Korea is implementing different projects like ‘Project for Preventing and Combating Gender-based Violence in Egypt’ with UNFPA and ‘Women’s Economic Empowerment in Egypt’ with UNWOMEN to enhance women’s rights in Egypt.
