South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir asserted Thursday that Sudan’s neighboring countries summit is aiming to discuss ways of ending the crisis in Sudan.
The summit convenes at a critical timing to all neighboring states, he said during the summit under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Thursday.
The summit offers an important opportunity for probing the situation in Sudan and ending the Sudanese crisis and overcome its serious repercussions, added Kiir.
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union (AU) are also working on this, he noted.
The South Sudan’s leader called for an immediate ceasefire, saying he is well aware that the war will take its toll on the security situation in Sudan.
The war will also have repercussions for the security, social and economic situation in neighboring states, according to him.
