GLASGOW – Egyptian Environment Minister Dr Yasmine Fouad met with US Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry and his accompanying delegation who congratulated the country for hosting a multilateral climate change conference or COP27 next year on the sidelines of Egypt’s participation in the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), held in Glasgow city in the United Kingdom.
Kerry said the conference will probe the issue of climate changes globally, adding he welcomed Egypt’s playing host to COP27, given the fact that the country has a crucial role in reaching rapprochement among countries in order to serve the topic of climate changes worldwide and achieve aspirations of African countries in development.
Fouad underlined the importance of the US role in supporting climate action and negotiations as well as as action plans worldwide in this regard, with special focus on financing, rallying up efforts and exchange of expertise to face the impacts of climate changes.
The meeting, according to MENA, discussed ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in climate changes file.
It was agreed to probe cooperation in climate changes and joint action during Kerry’s visit to Egypt in the coming period.
