The Egyptian Armed Forces have announced the launch of Kayan University, a new higher education institution combining military discipline with academic excellence, innovation and advanced scientific research.
Announced as part of the October 2026 admissions cycle for the Egyptian Military Academy and military colleges, the university aims to prepare highly skilled graduates capable of meeting the needs of both the Egyptian and international labour markets while supporting the country’s development plans.
Modern medical education
The university’s medical sector is centred around a fully integrated university hospital, providing advanced healthcare, clinical training and scientific research. It also features one of the region’s most advanced medical simulation centres, offering realistic hands-on training.
Its medical faculties include Medicine, Oral and Dental Medicine, Pharmacy and Physical Therapy, with programmes incorporating the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence, digital dentistry and advanced rehabilitation techniques.
Engineering and AI
To support the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the university offers specialised programmes through its Faculty of Engineering, covering Electronics and Communications, Electrical Power, Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronics, and Design and Manufacturing, supported by more than 30 modern laboratories.
The Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence offers programmes in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science and Intelligent Systems.
Civilian admissions
Applications are open to male and female students who completed General Secondary or Al-Azhar Secondary education in 2025 or 2026.
Applicants must be Egyptian nationals born to Egyptian parents and grandparents, demonstrate good conduct, pass medical, physical and psychological examinations, complete aptitude tests in English, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology and IQ, pass the interview board, and sign a financial undertaking covering tuition and accommodation costs if they withdraw before completing their studies.
For the medical faculties, applicants must come from the science stream, be under 21 on 1 November 2026, and meet the minimum admission scores of 90% for Medicine, 89% for Dentistry, 88% for Physical Therapy and 87% for Pharmacy.
Applicants to the Faculty of Engineering must hold a Mathematics stream certificate with a minimum score of 85%, while the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence accepts students from both science and mathematics streams with a minimum score of 80%.
Military pathway
The university also offers a military pathway for male graduates wishing to join the Armed Forces as Specialised Officers after completing a one-year military programme.
Bachelor’s degree holders in Dentistry, Pharmacy and Physical Therapy must have obtained a minimum overall grade of Very Good and be no older than 26. Master’s degree holders in approved specialisations within the same fields must also hold a Very Good grade and be under 30.
The Armed Forces said admissions would be conducted through a transparent, technology-based selection system to ensure equal opportunities, stressing that admission is based solely on merit and warning applicants against rumours of mediation or preferential treatment.
