Jordanian parl’t speaker: Egypt strategic depth for Jordan

Speaker of the Jordanian Lower House of Parliament Abdel Moneim al-Awdat said Egypt is a strategic depth for Jordan lauding Egypt-Jordan deeply rooted ties.

 

During an interview with Al Ahram newspaper out Wednesday, the Jordanian lawmaker referred to the strong relation binding President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan, saying that it highly reflects on mutual interests, as well as cooperation in the various domains.

 

The Jordanian lawmaker reiterated the importance of a three-way cooperation and coordination between Egypt, Jordan and Iraq; being fundamental to regional balance in the face of any threat to Arab national security and interests.

 

He pointed out to the outcome of a summit grouping president Sisi, King Abdullah II and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, as they agreed on upping a coordination mechanism in the political, economic, trade, industry and security fields, with a view to promoting joint efforts toward realizing strategic integration.

 

According to al-Awdat, Egyptian, Jordanian and Iraqi parliamentarians are in contact and regularly exchange visits to further contribute to promoting cooperation.
