CAIRO – Japanese Ambassador in Cairo Oka Hiroshi said his country is interested in enhancing co-operation with the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) as the area is a key strategic center for the international maritime transportation and a main gate to investment in Africa.
He made the remarks on Thursday during a meeting with SCZONE Chairman Yahia Zaki on investment opportunities in the zone and vistas of co-operation between Japanese companies and the SCZONE in various industrial sectors.
In a statement on Thursday, Zaki expressed happiness over the Japanese ambassador’s keenness on visiting the zone.
He referred to Japanese investments in the zone, topped by establishing the first medical supplies factory in the industrial zone in Ain Sokhna.
He reviewed investment opportunities and incentives offered to investors as well as ongoing efforts to localise industries, especially the green fuel industries in Sokhna and East Port Said.
He added that the current investment position in Egypt is the best in view of the good investment climate and the diversity of opportunities in various domains.
He added that the political leadership is interested in encouraging serious investments through several incentives.
He reviewed the achievements realised over the past five years in the SCZONE as well as the 2020-2025 strategy of the SCZONE.
