CAIRO – Egyptian Irrigation Minister Hany Suweilam asserted that his ministry takes part in achieving comprehensive development in Sinai via several major projects in the field of water resources in light of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to support Sinai development.
In statements on the occasion of Sinai Liberation Day on Thursday, Suweilam pointed out to the major achievement accomplished by implementing Bahr el Baqar station, which is the biggest station in the world for treating agricultural sanitation water with a capacity of 5.6 million cubic meters daily.
Suweilam said that work is underway to implement 2 outlets on Sheikh Gaber canal to irrigate an area of 125,000 feddans, adding that the work is finished in 18 outlets of them and the work in the rest of them will end this year.
The Egyptian state established 17 developmental and residential compounds in North and South Sinai, including components of wells, agricultural lands, residential houses and administrative and service facilities to serve the residents of Sinai, he said.
