CAIRO – Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hani Sewilam witnessed on Monday the signing ceremony of an agreement between the Regional Training Centre, which is affiliated with the ministry, and Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari to implement the project of the Egyptian-Italian Water Training Program.
As part the agreement, the Italian side will grant a sum of 2.3 million euros to implement the project.
The agreement was signed between Head of the Regional Training Centre Tarek el-Sayed and Deputy Director of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari Biagio Di Terlizzi.
For his part, the Irrigation minister affirmed that this project represents co-operation with the Italian side in the water sphere, with a view of building capacities and honing the employees’ skills in the water sector.
Sewilam, meanwhile, pointed out to the importance of supporting the training programmes provided to the employees at the Irrigation Ministry.
The ministries of irrigation, agriculture, housing, electricity, and environment will benefit from this project, along with the various universities and research institutes.
Several African countries will also benefit from this project, added the minister.
The project is implemented within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030 Strategy, he further said.
