CAIRO – Egypt’s Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hani Sewilam has stressed that his ministry is keen to provide the Palestinians with all forms of water-related support urgently in coordination with the Egyptian ministries and bodies concerned.
The minister’s remarks came on Friday at a meeting with Mazen Ghoneim, head of the Palestinian Water Authority, and his accompanying delegation.
The Irrigation Ministry also welcomes sharing Egypt’s expertise in fields related to rain water and wise management of water to address future water-linked challenges in Palestine, Sewilam said.
The minister lauded friendly ties between Egypt and Palestine, lamenting the deterioration of humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip due to Israel’s military aggression.
For his part, Ghoneim shed light on Israel’s practices in the Gaza Strip and the use of water as a weapon against Gazans, voicing keenness to make use of Egypt’s experience to handle water challenges facing the Palestinian people.
