Egyptian Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati had talks with New Valley Governor Mohamed Zamalout on water projects in the governorate and regulations for using groundwater.
In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said the talks tackled means of magnifying the benefit of agricultural wastewater, developing used equipment and maintaining groundwater wells.
Abdel Ati noted that 19 New Valley wells were fit out with monitoring and control devices.
The talks also tackled means of expanding solar energy use in operating wells in the governorate, noting that efforts are underway to install solar energy panels to 85 water wells in the New Valley.
He also underlined the importance of rationalizing water consumption and raising the efficiency of irrigation systems.
