CAIRO – Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati had talks on Sunday with officials of the Stockholm International Water Institute via video conference within the framework of preparations of the institute’s water pavilion at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) that will be held in Egypt in November.
He said COP27 represents a golden opportunity for integrating water challenges into international efforts to cope with climate change and curb relevant crises.
Egypt will focus during COP27 on the priorities of the African continent with regard to adaptation to the negative impact of climate change, underlining the importance of promoting cooperation among African countries.
He noted that water challenges come at the top of countries’ priorities, therefore the Cairo Water Week this year will be held under the theme of water at the heart of climate action.
The Cairo Water Week will convene ahead of the COP27.
