CAIRO – Egyptian Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati asserted that the Ministry of Irrigation firmly stands against all kinds of encroachments on the Nile River and its branches of Damietta and Rashid in coordination with the different state bodies.

He asserted that the ministry is taking all necessary legal measures to guarantee providing water needs necessary for all uses.

In a statement on Thursday, Abdel Aati said that 4,600 encroachments on the Nile River were removed as part of an expanded campaigns to remove such encroachments.

There are 70,000 encroachments on the Nile River, he said, adding that the encroachments removed are in Assiut, Minya, Giza, Damietta, Beheira, Beni Suef, Sohag, Qena, Qalubiya, Kafr el Sheikh and Aswan.
