Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Atti said that his ministry has already completed the rehabilitation of 2,636 kilometers of irrigation canals.
This is part of Egypt’s canal rehabilitation and lining project, said the minister.
In a statement on Friday, the irrigation minister said that the project aims at rehabilitating canals, with a length of up to 20,000 kilometers.
The rehabilitation of irrigation canals falls within the Irrigation Ministry’s plan to stimulate the comprehensive development process for the water system, the statement said.
The plan also aims at applying modern irrigation system and using smart irrigation applications, it added.
