Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence has visited the Egyptian Red Crescent warehouses in the city of Arish, and has seen Egypt’s efforts in receiving, preparing and coordinating humanitarian aid destined for the Gaza Strip.
During the visit, the Irish minister has seen the mechanisms used to store and prepare food, medical and relief supplies ahead of their transfer to Gaza through the designated crossings, as part of Egypt’s ongoing support for the Palestinian people.
The minister also received a briefing from officials of the Egyptian Red Crescent on the volume of aid received so far and the nature of coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the swift and efficient delivery of assistance to those in need inside the Gaza Strip.Expressing international appreciation, the Irish foreign minister praised the efforts undertaken by Egypt and the Egyptian Red Crescent to support the people of Gaza, stressing the importance of maintaining the steady flow of humanitarian assistance in light of the current conditions.
The visit comes amid continued regional and international focus on humanitarian access and relief operations for civilians affected by the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
