The Islamic Research Academy (IRA) will hold a press conference on Monday to launch a public initiative which mainly aims to spread awareness about climate and its adverse impact.
The initiative, which aims to create a sustainable environment and put an end to the climate change impacts, will be spearheaded in co-operation with the Environment Ministry and falls within the framework of ongoing preparations of Egypt’s hosting of the United Nations Climate Change conference (COP27), which will be held in Sharm El Sheikh next November.
In a statement Thursday, the IRA’s Secretary-General Nazir Ayyad said that the initiative comes as part of the vision adopted by the State in preparing plans related to the National Climate Change Strategy 2050.
The initiative, which will be held under the auspices of Al Azhar’s Grand Imam Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb and Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad, aims to present a scientific vision to confront climate change in an integrated manner that achieves the State’s vision and its national strategy, he added.
