SHARM EL-SHEIKH – Head of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Mission in Egypt Laurent De Boeck commended the Egyptian government for offering a network of social and health care, including vaccinating immigrants.
He stressed that the IOM is keen on adopting this method with governments worldwide.
He made the remarks while taking part in a session of the World Youth Forum (WYF) on the role of international organisations in the recovery from pandemic.
He underlined the IOM’s awareness of the destructive repercussions of the pandemic which pushes about 70 million people to abject poverty.
In 2021, about 235 million people needed humanitarian aid and protection, at a 40 per cent rise in comparison with 2020.
