CAIRO – Laurent De Boeck, the Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Egypt has granted Emigration Minister Nabila Makram the “Friends of Migrants” Award.
The award was given to Makram on Monday in appreciation of her role in promoting safe migration and fighting illegal immigration, a statement by the Ministry of Emigration said.
She received the award also for her active role in engaging Egyptian expatriates and debunking the misperceptions about irregular migration.
Makram thanked De Boeck for the award, which she said is meant to honor Egypt and not just her Ministry.
The IOM is a major partner of success, she noted.
Makram is one of 30 Egyptians awarded by IOM on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary in Egypt.
