CAIRO – Egyptian Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Hassan EL Khatib reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to boosting the service system for exports and imports through applying the latest international standards which contributes to facilitating foreign trade movement between Egypt and the global markets.
This came during the minister’s visit to the General Organisation for Import and Export Control (GOEIC) where he held an extensive meeting with members of the Board of Directors of the Authority and its leaders, highlighting the important role by the GOEIC in the foreign trade field, in order to facilitate trade and remove obstacles facing the Egyptian exporters.
The minister emphasized the crucial role of the GOEIC in Egypt’s strategy to enhance foreign trade and achieve higher levels for Egyptian commodity exports. He also underscored efforts to streamline inspection procedures and expedite shipment clearance at ports through procedural enhancements.
The minister has recently inaugurated the Optical, Electrical, and Photometric Testing Laboratory at the GOEIC’s branch at Cairo Airport Authority
During his visit, he also inspected the Energy Efficiency Testing Laboratory for electric motors and the Pressure Testing and Water Consumption Reduction Laboratory, which are both crucial for maintaining water resources and ensuring the quality of imported goods.
Khatib visited and inaugurated the newly developed facility of the GEOIC, emphasising Egypt’s efforts to enhance governance of all border crossings and customs departments.
He also launched the Proficiency Testing (PT) Technical Efficiency Unit at GEOIC, which assesses laboratory performance according to international standards.
