Plans for the Abu Rawash Investment Zone in Giza Governorate are to be amended in the light of proposals for hotels and tourism investment services for the area near the Grand Museum.
The southern boundary of Abu Rawash comprises the Cairo Ring Road and the Grand Egyptian Museum area and the Rod el-Farag axis to the north.
The amendments come in response to demand for hotel and service facilities serving the Cairo-Alexandria desert road to prevent encroachments on it and alternative carriageways for the said road.
Housing Minister Assem el-Gazzar briefed yesterday’s meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on the proposals for the Abu Rawash Investment Zone.
Governor of Giza Ahmed Rashid told the meeting that the amendments to the plan, which was approved last June, will encourage the hospitality industry and facilitate work of investors in this area.
The prime minister therefore issued directives to expand hotel activities in this investment area, which is close to the Pyramids plateau and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Head of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Hossam Heiba and General Authority for Urban Planning chair Maha Fahim attended the meeting through video-conference.
