Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Co-operation Rania el-Mashat arrived on Friday in South Africa to participate in the 9th Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank’s (NDB) Board of Governors.
The meeting, held under the theme “Investing in a Sustainable Future”, wraps up today in Cape Town, South Africa.
The annual meeting serves as a critical platform for discussions on how NDB can finance infrastructure and sustainable projects in emerging markets and developing countries with enhanced effectiveness and excellence.
Leaders, decision-makers, and business professionals gather to discuss how to promote investment for a sustainable future.
Minister Mashat’s agenda during the event will include the signing of a co-operation protocol between the NDB and South Africa.
She will take part in the main seminar for the bank’s governors, focusing on providing financing for sustainable development in emerging markets.
The minister’s agenda also includes several bilateral meetings to discuss ways to enhance co-operation with international development partners.
The programme of the meeting includes presentations on cutting-edge financial systems for sustainable development, prospects for sustainable investment, as well as thought-provoking panel discussions by prominent figures. The discussions cover cooperative initiatives that solve urgent social and environmental issues and the best practices in cultivating new engines for sustainable growth.
Egypt hosted the NDB’s first international forum last June, following its joining of bank.
