CAIRO – Head of the National Council for Women (NCW) Moshira Khattab said that celebrating the International Women’s Day is an important occasion to shed light on the accomplishments of Egyptian women and their role in building the community and achieving development.
In statements on Sunday, Khattab said that the state took serious steps to empower women and boost their rights at the different levels.
She said that Egyptian women proved throughout history that they are a main partner in development whether via participating in the political or public life or via their effective role in the different economic, social and cultural sectors.
She lauded the achievements of the Egyptian women in the recent years.
She asserted the necessity to continue efforts to guarantee a supportive environment for the rights of women and protecting them from all kinds of violence and discrimination.
