International Co-operation Minister Rania el Mashat met Sunday with a US Congress delegation to discuss development co-operation between the two countries.
Development finance has greatly contributed to involving the private sector in the development process, Mashat said. She put the total value of soft development finances offered to the private sector since the beginning of 2023 at about 2.1 billion dollars.
The minister stressed the importance of co-operation relations between Cairo and Washington through the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Mashat pointed to decades of joint action in support of sustainable development and common interests. She talked about efforts to boost the partnership with the private sector in a bid to maintain development gains.
The International Co-operation Ministry and the USAID signed seven agreements worth 160 million dollars in March.
