CAIRO – International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashaat said Sunday that her Ministry is keen on coordinating efforts with development partners to achieve integration in the implementation of projects of the “Decent Life” presidential initiative.
Speaking in a meeting with UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova, Mashaat reviewed roles that each partner could play to achieve maximum benefit in terms of development finances.
The meeting took up projects that are currently being implemented under the umbrella of the 2018-2022 strategic partnership between Egypt and the UN, particularly developing the Egyptian countryside.
The minister stressed the need to include the “Decent Life” initiative in a new Egypt-UN partnership strategy (2023-2027), which is yet to be outlined.
Mashaat and Panova reviewed aspects of the strategic partnership, which focuses on achieving comprehensive economic development, social justice, sustainability of environmental and natural resources and women empowerment.
They also discussed efforts to encourage green finances and offer technical support for early funding with the aim to boost implementation of the 2030 sustainable development goals.
Panova, for her part, praised the presidential initiative, “Decent Life”, believing it helps improve living conditions of more than half of the Egyptian citizens.
The UN is looking forward to enhancing joint coordination and cooperation with Egypt as part of its support for development efforts in the Arab country, she noted.
She said her talks with the international cooperation minister took up means to support efforts of the Egyptian government to mobilize and secure development resources to implement projects of the initiative.
