ALEXANDRIA – Egypt’s International Co-operation Minister Rania el Mashat, Alexandria Governor Mohamed el Sherif and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova on Sunday inspected a number of development projects in the Mediterranean governorate.

Mashat said this inspection tour comes as part of a partnership week organized by Egypt and the UN to shed light on the role of UN agencies in advancing the overall and sustainable development process in some governorates.

Egypt and the UN are set to sign the 2023-2027 strategic framework of partnership for sustainable development in March.

She noticed this partnership week includes inspecting the projects that are implemented in light of the 2018-2022 Partnership Framework that focused on the comprehensive economic development, social justice and the sustainability of natural and environment resources, as well as the empowerment of women.

On his part, Alexandria governor lauded the role of the UN and its agencies, as well as the national bodies and relevant parties to push forward the overall and sustainable development process nationwide.

The governor called on the international co-operation minister and the UN agencies to establish further environmental and industrial projects that reduce the impacts of climate change.
