Hours before the scheduled opening of ballot boxes for the second phase of the 2025 House of Representatives election, the Ministry of Interior began implementing its election security plan across the 13 governorates to secure the election process.
A senior security source at the Ministry of Interior told the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Monday that security deployments have been established at all polling stations and locations for the second phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections across the 13 governorates.
The electoral perimeter around polling stations has been secured externally through extensive security presence around the stations and along all surrounding roads and access routes, in coordination with the relevant authorities. Main roads and routes leading to polling sites have likewise been secured.
He added that security services around each polling site have been reinforced with rapid deployment units, criminal investigation teams, and rapid intervention forces supported by female police officers, to ensure immediate response to any emergency situation.
This reflects the police’s distinguished and civilized conduct, as well as the readiness of its personnel and logistical capabilities. Security patrols have been intensified inside and outside cities and along all roads and main routes, alongside the activation of checkpoints and both fixed and mobile security positions.
The security source indicated that both fixed and mobile security patrols have also been deployed to respond quickly and effectively to anything that might disturb or negatively affect the electoral environment. Important and vital state facilities, public gathering areas, and polling site surroundings have also been secured.
Additionally, security patrols and traffic units equipped with the latest logistical technology have been deployed to monitor traffic on main roads, routes, and around polling stations.
This aims to ensure a suitable and safe environment, facilitate voters’ access to polling stations, and provide immediate response to any situations that may arise during the voting process, while taking all necessary measures to ease procedures for citizens—particularly the elderly and people with special needs.
The second phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections is being held today and tomorrow across 13 governorates. The results will be announced and published in the Official Gazette after the voting process concludes, while run-off elections inside Egypt will take place on 17–18 December 2025.
The second phase covers 13 governorates in which candidates running under the individual seat system are competing across 73 electoral districts, with a total of 1,316 candidates.
