CAIRO – Egyptian Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik on Monday embarked on a visit to China, leading a high-profile security delegation.
Tawfik’s visit is at the invitation of Chinese Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, as they will discuss ways of fostering security cooperation between Egypt and China.
Upon his arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, the interior minister was received by some officials of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and the Egyptian ambassador to China.
In statements at the airport, Tawfiq called for strengthening joint security co-operation mechanisms in light of the growing security challenges facing countries around the world.
He also underlined the need to activate bilateral and multilateral security coordination mechanisms among security agencies to confront the challenges associated with the spread of extremist thought and ideologies and organized crimes in all their forms.
