CAIRO – Egyptian Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq said Sunday that security is an essential pillar of development.
The Interior Ministry is working to upgrade the security system and the efficiency of its elements through well-studied scientific programmes, Tawfiq said in his speech during a ceremony marking the graduation of a new batch of students of the Police Academy in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Those programs have been designed to prepare policemen to carry out their duties, he noted.
Today’s ceremony coincides with the anniversary of the October War victory, which, according to the minister, was an amazing epic to the world.
Tawfiq said the unrest at the regional and international levels has spilled over into the political and economic potentials of the world’s peoples. It has resulted in challenges as great as Egypt’s geographic location and responsibility as a leading country in the region, he noted.
Tawfiq added that his Ministry is well aware of the challenges facing the nation and is intensifying efforts to achieve the concept of comprehensive security.
