Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir said on Wednesday that technology and digital transformation operations play an important role in boosting capabilities of the economies of countries to better face global changes.
Samir was speaking during a conference organised by Obeikan Digital Solutions to announce future plans of the company in the Egyptian market.
The minister stressed the importance of digitisation, artificial intelligence and the internet in easing procedures and reducing the cost of production. This also contributes to honing competitiveness, achieving better growth rates and creating more jobs, Samir added.
The government has already started to build its “Digital Egypt” strategy, which serves as a comprehensive plan and a cornerstone for the country to go digital at the social and economic levels, he said, noting that this is in line with Egypt’s 2030 vision.
Smair also spoke highly of a memorandum of understanding signed between Egypt’s Industrial Modernisation Centre (IMC) and Obeikan Investment Group (OIG), expecting it to be a turning point in efforts to settle the concepts of digital transformation and fourth industrial revolution.
