CAIRO- Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir said Monday that Egypt exerts non-stop efforts to boost joint African cooperation and achieve economic integration with African countries during its presidency of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The minister’s statements came during a speech read out by Assistant minister Ibrahim El Segeni during the inauguration of the annual ninth forum of the African bloc being held in Egypt from Monday through Thursday with virtual participation of COMESA Secretary General Chileshe Kapwepwe and other COMESA officials.
He said the discussions would tackle measures to help African countries overcome economic challenges imposed by Covid-19 as well as world economic crises.
For her part, Kapwepwe thanked Egypt for hosting the African gathering and said the forum would also discuss important issues including the increase of food, fuel and fertilisers in addition to regional economic integration.
