Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir said Egypt is always looking forward to scaling up the volume of joint co-operation with the Hungarian side on all fronts, with special focus on industry and transport domains.

Wazir’s remarks came at a meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó to discuss ways of boosting joint co-operation between the two countries in the fields of industry and transport.

Wazir underlined the depth and strength of Egypt-Hungary relations, according to a statement by the Industry and Transport Ministry on Wednesday.

He said Egypt is very interested in encouraging Hungary to pump new investments in the Egyptian market in a number of domains to meet needs of local market and up exports in partnership with Hungarian companies.

Szijjártó stressed the utmost keenness of Hungarian companies on co-operating with Egypt in localising the industry of moveable units of trains.

The measure was welcomed by the Egyptian official, who confirmed the country’s greater interest in strengthening this important industry to turn Egypt into a hub for manufacturing railway coaches in the Middle East and Africa region.

Both sides discussed means of cementing joint co-operation in a project to supply 1,350 railway wagons by Hungary to the Egyptian National Railways (ENR).
