CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el-Wazir Tuesday inspected the industrial zone in 10th of Ramadan City, Sharqia governorate.
During the tour, the minister inspected four factories operating in electrical industries, spinning and weaving, sanitary ware and fire-fighting equipment.
Wazir also inspected El Sewedy Industrial Complex for development of industrial zones as well as El Sewedy factory for Iskraemeco electrometer.
The minister started the tour by inspecting the ABB Electrical Industries factory, where he was welcomed by Swiss Ambassador-Designate Andreas, Swedish Ambassador to Egypt Håkan Emsgård and the CEO of the company Ahmed Hamad.
The 800-million-pound capital worth ABB Electrical Industries factory is erected on an area of 80,000 square meters, with a production capacity of 240,000 units per year.
The factory, which employs 931 workers, plans to export 50 percent of its production to Germany, Italy, England, Greece, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and some African countries.
The minister affirmed that that roads and utilities (gas, water, sewage and electricity) in the industrial zones will be improved, echoing the underway development in the 10th of Ramadan City.
Meanwhile, Wazir inspected factories of the Oriental Weavers Group, a leading company in the spinning and weaving industry and one of the world’s largest carpets, rugs, and related raw materials producers.
The Oriental Weavers factories are built on an area exceeding one million square meters, with a production capacity of 150 million square meters annually.
The company employs more than 19,000 workers and allocates about 65 percent of its production for export.
The minister then inspected the Global Sanitary Ware Company factory “Gawad”, which is built on an area of 11,899 square meters, with a production capacity of 1.25 million pieces per year. The factory secures 150 job opportunities.
The minister also inspected Bavaria Industrial Complex, which produces fire components.
Erected on an area of 36,000 square meters, the complex has 856 employees, with annual sales estimated at 2.5 billion pounds.
