Indonesian president: Egypt “key partner” of Indonesia, Middle East, Africa

Indonesian President Joko Widodo Tuesday described Egypt as “key partner” for Indonesia, the Middle East region and Africa.

This came as Egypt’s newly-appointed Ambassador to Indonesia Yasser el Shemey handed over his credentials as an envoy to Jakarta to the Indonesian president.

Joko conveyed greetings and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

He hailed relations between Egypt and Indonesia, asserting keenness on boosting cooperation relations.

He further underscored eagerness to maintain contact and coordination towards reinforcing the Egyptian-Indonesian interests.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian ambassador conveyed the greetings and appreciation of president Sisi to president Joko as well as wishes for the Indonesian people and government for further progress and prosperity, the Foreign Ministry said on its page on the social media platform Facebook.

Ambassador Shemey hailed the close relations between the two countries, expressing desire to work with Indonesian officials to serve shared interests.

He asserted keenness on fostering coordination and cooperation regarding regional and international issues of mutual concern.
