Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited on Sunday morning the historic Al-Hakim Mosque in Cairo. Supreme Council of Antiquities Secretary-General Moustafa Waziri welcomed the prime minister at the mosque.
The 11th-century mosque, standing as a symbol of the rich cultural heritage shared by India and Egypt, holding immense historical and religious importance.
Modi highlighted the remarkable restoration of the Al-Hakim Mosque, which was made possible through support of the Dawoodi Bohra community under the supervision of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
Later on Sunday, Modi visited the Pyramids Plateau in Giza, accompanied by Egyptian counterpart Moustafa Madbouli, who offered him a replica of Tutankhamun’s mask as a souvenir.
Modi was keen on taking pictures at the Plateau and was offered an explanation about the historical and cultural value of the area.
