The Embassy of India in Cairo on Thursday is marking the 58th anniversary of the Indian Technical & Economic Co-operation (ITEC) programme in the presence of Indian Ambassador Ajit Gupte.

Minister of International Co-operation Rania el-Mashaat will be attending as guest of honour.

ITEC Alumni, IAFS, CV Raman Scholarships and other training programmes in India from Egypt will be sharing their experiences of training in India.

ITEC is a flagship co-operation programme of Government of India for extending technical assistance and enhancing capacity-building of its developing country partners.

In recent years, more than 1600 Egyptians have participated in these training programmes.

Under the ITEC programme, 200 scholarships are available every year for Egyptian nationals to train in 54 Institutes of India in courses in 280 disciplines, which include information technology, public administration and renewable energy.

Special training in security, defence and counter-insurgency are offered to defense personnel by India’s National Defence College and Defence Service Staff College.
