Ajit Gupte, the Indian Ambassador in Cairo, has hailed as “strong” and “historical” relations between his country and Egypt.
India is keen on increasing the volume of trade exchange with Egypt to 7.5 billion dollars, Gupte said in a statement by the Indian Embassy Wednesday.
Speaking during a visit to the Upper Egyptian city of Aswan, Gupte also stressed the need to encourage Indian investments in Egypt.
The Indian diplomat met with Aswan governor Ashraf Attia, the statement said.
He inspected a number of solar energy, agricultural and industrial ventures in Aswan, it added.
Gupte also visited the Benban Solar Park that was developed by India’s Sterling & Wilson Renewable Energy with a capacity of 250 megawatts, the statement further said, putting the total amount of solar energy produced from Benban at about 1.46 gigawatts, which is likely to further expand.
