Indian Ambassador in Cairo Ajit Gupte commended the significant progress in relations between India and Egypt that had been upgraded to the level of strategic partnership in 2023.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Indian Embassy’s headquarters in Cairo, Gupte highlighted multiple visits made by Egyptian and Indian officials over the previous period, which come within the framework of the distinguished ties between the two countries in different areas.

The Indian ambassador hailed the development in economic and trade ties between the two countries, citing the volume of Indian investments in Egypt stands at USD 3.7 billion.

He said Indian companies are keen to invest in several sectors in Egypt, including green hydrogen.

Gupte expected the next period will see an exchange of visits between the two countries’ officials, especially after the formation of new governments in Egypt and India.

Regarding the war in Gaza, the Indian diplomat stated that his country offered shipments of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave in last November and December via Rafah border crossing.

In this regard, Gupte noted that India acknowledged the State of Palestine for years and advocates the two-state solution to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
