The US embassy spokesman on Wednesday commented on the “incredible geographic or geological potential” in Egypt for green energy transition.
Indeed, the US has been an active participant in COP27, given the several climate commitments announced by US President Joe Biden.
The US embassy spokesman told this newspaper: “It is important that at this critical time that citizens from across the world come together and find a time and find the will to implement the commitments the world has made in regard to combating climate change, and we are hoping for big results from the conference.
“The trick is finding resources and the willpower to make that happen. With Egypt’s commitments announced either at COP 27 or before and other investments in the renewable energies, the potential to make big strides is huge. US companies and the US government can be partners with Egypt,” he said.
This global event is a chance for any host country that to attract additional investment and focus on what the country is doing, he added.
The US official referred to the close partnership between Egypt and the US on multiple fronts to combat climate change, he said, adding: “So I think we are going to make more progress together.”
