The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC) said the funds allocated for social programmes hit LE356 billion in addition to LE310 billion for the health sector in the new fiscal year budget.
The state also earmarked LE476 billion for tertiary and university education and LE79 billion for scientific research in the budget, the centre.
This came in an infograph published by the centre on government spending on social sectors in the new budget.
The centre added that LE191 billion for pension funds, marking a LE38 billion rise.
Also, LE90 billion was channelled into subsidised commodities and bread for 71 million citizens, while LE22 billion went to Takaful and Karama programme and social solidarity programmes to increase beneficiaries to 4 million families.
