Hotel occupancy in Hurghada reached 93 per cent, beating Sharm el-Sheikh at 73 per cent, according to recent tourism figures.
This shows a positive turn in the market compared to the same period a year earlier when hotel occupancy ranged between 75-80 per cent in Hurghada and 35-40 per cent in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Red Sea Tourism Investment Association president Kamel Abu Ali said most tourists visiting Egypt come from Czech Republic, Germany and Poland.
The average daily occupancy rate has increased 30 per cent since the beginning of the year, Abu Ali added.
On July 20, a JLL report showed occupancy of Cairo hotels rose to 60 per cent in the first five months of 2022 from 32 per cent in the same period a year earlier.
