The Ministry of Housing held an extensive conference on Thursday to launch the national strategy for sustainable urban development and green building.
The event was attended by Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif el Sherbini and Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.
The conference also saw broad participation from several ministers, including the minister of local development and the acting minister of environment, the minister of agriculture, as well as the governors of Cairo and Giza.
In his speech at the conference, Sherbini confirmed that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave the green light for the national strategy for sustainable urban development and green building during the World Urban Forum held last November.
Sherbini highlighted the president’s keen interest in preserving Egypt’s resources and his emphasis on adopting sustainable construction methods based on resource and energy efficiency.
These measures contribute to improving the economic conditions of citizens and realizing their aspirations for a better living environment, he said.
Sherbini added that during the past period, coordination took place with all relevant ministries, stakeholders and real estate developers to ensure that the implementation procedures of the strategy are comprehensive and meet the needs of all parties.
This strategy represents an important step toward achieving Egypt’s sustainable development goals and reflects the state’s vision of adopting more efficient and eco-friendly construction methods.
This approach aims to preserve natural resources and maintain a balance between urban development and environmental protection.
