CAIRO – Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafi Gebali said Monday the climate changes represent international multidimensional challenges.
Addressing the 144th session of the Intern-Parliamentary Union currently in session in Bali, Indonesia, Gebali called for augmenting efforts of the world parliaments to support action on climate change.
He said the negative impact resulting from climate change necessitated exerting strenuous efforts and have an honest will to make steps to counter the climate change, considering any move as an international objective in order to save the world from the dangers posed by such phenomenon.
The House speaker noted that the Egyptian state has attached special importance to the issue of climate change through adopting a comprehensive national strategy to come in line with the international efforts to mitigate the effect of climate change.
He called on all states to shoulder their responsibilities towards this issue, terming such confrontation to the climate change as “inevitable” to protect the coming generations.
