The best government and private hospitals are working on an alliance to promote therapeutic tourism, a senior official announced yesterday.
This statement by Assistant Minister of Health and Population Ahmed el-Sobky came during a meeting of General Authority for Healthcare board yesterday.
Efforts are underway to form an alliance including the best government and private hospitals to promote the treatment of foreign patients in Egypt, el-Sobky said.
Discussions focused on the latest developments in the authority’s project, ‘We take care of you in Egypt’, which was launched last year.
El-Sobky, who is also the GAH board chairman, commissioned the promotion of the project to include medical specialisations and physicians of excellent reputation.
The chairman requested the setting up on an official Facebook page for the campaign in different languages and a platform for communications between doctors and patients.
El-Sobky also called for ideas to rehabilitate the authority’s hospitals in tourist destinations covered by the comprehensive health insurance system in order to obtain accreditation from Temos in Germany.
The authority intends to build an integrated system that puts Egypt top of the global medical tourism map, el-Sobky said, adding that coordination with relevant ministries and associations is important along with engaging the private sector to hold a conference promoting ‘We take care of you in Egypt’ regionally and internationally.
