Egyptian Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar presided over Tuesday a meeting of the non-profit universities board in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).
Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the policy of the Ministry of Higher Education to support the branches of higher education system including the non-government universities which do not aim at achieving profits but the student fees are used for maintenance, upgrading the labs and developing the education system, according to a statement of the ministry.
Abdel Ghaffar pointed out to the keenness of the ministry within the past period to support the 27 governmental universities in the different parts of the country, the statement said.
The ministry supported the 27 private universities in the different governorates to help them do their role more effectively to serve the educational system, the statement added.
The ministry offered the opportunities of foreign education via hosting 6 branches of foreign universities in the New Administrative Capital, the statement said, adding that the ministry also presented the track of technological education which includes 10 technological universities to support technical education to meet the future needs of the work market.
Abdel Ghaffar necessitated that the non-profit universities promote their modern educational programs so that the students know the education programmes qualifying them for the local, regional and international work market.
He asserted that establishing new non-profit universities comes within the framework of the national project of expanding the establishment of non-universities universities with international standards at the directives of the political leadership to develop the higher education system in Egypt.
The non-profit universities contribute to achieving the strategic plan of the state in the field of higher education until 2050, he said.
