Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour said Egypt should become among countries producing vaccines to better serve Egyptians, Arabs and Africans.
This came during Ashour’s meeting with rapporteur of the scientific committee combating coronavirus Hossam Fahmy and his accompanying delegation to discuss the steps taken to complete the manufacturing of the Egyptian anti-coronavirus vaccine “Egyvax”.
Ashour lauded existing cooperation between the Egyptian research centers at the ministries of higher education and agriculture and EVA Pharma company, saying it sets a model for fruitful cooperation between research bodies and the private sector.
Manufacturing anti-coronavirus vaccine is one of the directives of the political leadership to protect citizens from coronavirus, Ashour said.
He said the ministry is ready to provide all possible support to produce a vaccine that is equivalent to global products.
