Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education Ayman Ashour asserted the depth of ties binding Egypt and Belarus especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research, terming those ties as positive and fruitful.
This came during Ashour’s meeting on Monday with Belarus Ambassador to Egypt Sergei Rachkov to discuss means to boost cooperation between Egypt and Belarus in the field of science, technology and innovation.
Ashour pointed out that the meeting is a big opportunity to discuss means of cooperation between the Egyptian and Belarus institutions of higher education in addition to boosting the system of scientific research in both countries.
He asserted the importance of cooperating with distinguished research institutions around the world to benefit the scientific research domain in Egypt.
During the meeting, Ashour asserted the care and support given by the Egyptian state to the system of higher education, pointing out to the major achievements in the field in the past period in relation to improving the infrastructure of the higher education institution, modernizing educational programs benefiting the work market and following up the technological developments in the educational fields.
He pointed out to the volume of the higher educational system in Egypt and its variations between governmental universities, private universities, civil universities and int’l universities which contribute to qualifying the graduates to meet the needs of the work market.
The meeting reviewed the national strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education that was launched in March 2023 which is based on integration, interrelated specializations, communication, effective participation, sustainability, international reference, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Ashour asserted that the strategy of the ministry focuses on linking education with actual needs of the society and achieving integration between the universities established recently in addition to the needs of the surrounding geographic areas.
The meeting discussed horizons of cooperation between both sides in the fields of medicine, information technology, artificial intelligence, applied mathematics and others in addition to investment in higher education via establish braches of Belarus universities in Egypt.
Ashour said that he is looking forward to cooperation with Belarus and benefiting from some of the expertise it has in the field of manufacturing, information technology, training and modernizing some industries.
Both sides tackled preparation for holding the 2nd forum of the presidents of Belarus and Egyptian universities 2024 in Minsk.
Meanwhile, Rachkov expressed his happiness over the meeting expressing that Belarus is looking forward to more constructive cooperation with Egypt to serve the fields of mutual interest, asserting the increase of the volume of cooperation between the Egyptian and Belarus universities.
He reviewed cooperation fields with the universities of Cairo, Ain Shams, Helwan and Kafr el Sheikh in addition a cooperation protocol with Beni Suef technological university to localize the programs of agricultural information technology.
Rachkov lauded cooperation between Belarus and the Egyptian higher education institutions. He also praised the major reforms taking place in Egypt.
He asserted the keenness of his country on boosting cooperation with Egypt as it is an important partner to Belarus in the different fields.
