CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the importance of maintaining efforts to promote the efficiency of the Competition Protection Agency to help it play its role in completing structural reforms of the national economy.
Madbouli’s remarks were made during a meeting held on Monday to probe the strategy for supporting competition policies.
Minister of Trade and Industry Nivine Gamea and Chairman of the Agency Mahmoud Momtaz attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Momtaz said the Agency is mainly contributing to boosting the performance of the national economy through promoting the competitive edge of products in markets.
Spokesman for the Cabinet Nader Saad said the meeting discussed ways of establishing a higher committee for backing competition policy and promoting competitive neutrality principle, which will be chaired by the premier.
Madbouli affirmed a decision will be issued soon to set up the committee, which will regularly convene per month.
