A high-level source announced on Tuesday that the Egyptian security delegation warned its Israeli counterpart of the consequences of invading the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing in southern Gaza, and demanded an immediate halt to this move.
Al-Qahera News TV channel quoted the high-level source as saying that efforts are still ongoing to halt the escalation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
Earlier today, Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah, which resulted in Israeli control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the Israeli escalation as “a dangerous escalation that threatens the lives of more than a million Palestinians who heavily rely on this crossing as the main lifeline for Gaza, the safe passage for the evacuation of the wounded and sick for treatment, and for the entry of humanitarian and relief aid to our Palestinian brethren in Gaza.
