Egypt’s Minister of Military Production Mohamed Salah Eddin Moustafa and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam met for talks on co-operation between the two ministries.
Moustafa made a special note of the supervision, maintenance and operation of the High Dam by ministry affiliate Helwan Diesel Engine Company (Military Factory 909).
The two officials discussed procedures to complete the work to maintain the High Dam, which is considered the greatest engineering feats of the 20th century and the most important water facility in Egypt.
Mostafa highlighted ministry contributions to national projects in co-operation with various agencies for sustainable development plans using human, technical and manufacturing expertise of entities affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production.
For his part, Sewilam pointed out the importance of these projects in serving the water resources and irrigation system in Egypt.
Sewilam said collaboration with the Ministry of Military Production on work on the High Dam is of immense importance in effectively managing Egypt’s water resources.
Thanks to the High Dam, agriculture shifted from seasonal to permanent, protected from flooding and drought, and contributed to reclamation and increasing the area of land under cultivation, Sewilam said.
